why grass fed?

Here’s the Top Five Reasons Why I Chose to Use Grass-Fed Butter in My Product:


Vitamin A:

In case you weren’t aware, the absolute best tasting butter comes from grass fed cows, when they happily graze on grass or hay year round, giving butter a naturally yellow color from the high levels of beta-carotene found in the plants they eat and our bodies naturally convert carotenoids into vitamin A.  What’s Vitamin A good for?  Vision, reproduction, bone growth and helping your immune system by protecting you against bacteria and viruses. Plus the color of the grass fed butter is just pretty.



Omega-3 and omega-6 are known as the Essential Fatty Acids, “essential”  because your body can’t make them. Milk fat contains approximately 400 different fatty acids, which makes it the most complex of all natural fats!(1) Studies have shown that cows grazing exclusively on grass contain more omega-3 fatty acids than the non-grazers and the healthy ratio of the omega-3 to omega-6 in milk fat is especially beneficial. Conjugated Linoleic Acids (CLA’s):

You hear peoples talking about them all of the time, right?  If you do, it’s probably because of their association with reducing belly fat.  Grass fed butter contains five more times of this beneficial fatty acid than conventional butter.(3)


Vitamin K2:

High fat dairy products, for example grass fed butter, are sources of Vitamin K2.  K2 is associated with your bone health; by directing calcium to where it should be in our body... in your bones and teeth and away from where it shouldn’t be...in your arteries! (4) Let’s hear it for K2!!


Butyric Acid:

What else is in butter?  Besides protein, calcium, phosphorus, Vitamin D and E, butter contains butyric acid or butyrate, which contains short term fatty acids and are easier for your body to digest.  Short chain fatty acids do some really good work for our bodies! They help by keeping the gut lining and colon cells healthy. (5)
